If your car will not start, cannot be driven, or has a fault that would cost more to fix than it is worth, you can still sell it. DEOL Car Solutions buys non-running cars across Christchurch and Canterbury, collects them for free and pays you on collection. The car never has to move under its own power.
You can sell a non-running car as it is
There is no need to get it going first. When you sell a non-running car to us, we price it as it stands, collect it with the right gear, and pay you when we pick it up. A car that does not run still has an engine, gearbox, body and interior, and a complete car is worth buying.
Faults we see every week
- Gearbox and transmission failure, including slipping automatics, failed CVTs and DSG faults
- Engine failure: blown head gasket, snapped timing belt, seized engine, overheating
- Won't start: flat or dead battery after sitting, starter or ignition faults
- Electrical faults: warning lights, failed modules, cars stuck in limp mode
- Cars that have sat for years with flat tyres and seized brakes
You do not need to know exactly what is wrong. Tell us what the car does, or does not do, and that is enough for an offer.
Is it worth fixing?
Often it is not. A replacement gearbox or engine on an older car can easily cost more than the car is worth once it is fixed, and some faults only show their full cost once the mechanic starts work. Selling the car as a non-runner means you stop spending money on it, get paid, and free up the driveway.
If you are not sure, send us the plate and the fault. You will have a cash figure to weigh against the repair quote.
How the pickup works
You choose the pickup time, and our driver comes prepared to load a car that does not run. Tell us where it is parked and whether it rolls. A driveway, garage, street, back yard or paddock is fine, and missing keys or locked steering are workable. In Christchurch we often collect the same day or the next day. Further out in Canterbury we agree a day and collect within your window.
The pickup is free, you are paid on collection, and we complete the NZTA change of ownership.
Why sell a non-running car to us
- We are the end buyer: no listing, no bidding, no commission
- Nothing is deducted for the pickup
- The car does not need a WOF or current registration
- We handle the paperwork with NZTA
Questions about non-running cars
My car has not started in years. Will you still buy it? Yes, as long as it is complete. Cars that have sat for a long time are very normal for us.
I don't have the keys. Tell us when you ask for an offer. We can usually still collect it, and you will need to show you own it.
Do you buy cars with a failed gearbox? Yes. Gearbox and transmission failures are one of the most common reasons a running car becomes a non-runner, and we buy them every week.
Do you buy non-running utes and vans? Yes, cars, utes, vans and 4WDs.
